Hand Dyed Indigo and Gray Pinwheels Quilt. Measures 40" x 52". Great size for a crib or toddler bed, also a throw, as it is a little on the larger side. Great picnic blanket, wedding gift, or second anniversary present (The second anniversary is COTTON!) Very one of a kind, no repeats, and you won't find one like this anywhere else in the whole wide world.
ABOUT THE QUILT:
*TOP is originally designed and machine stitched by me and made from organic cottons from my hand dyed fabric collection, as well as my organic cotton Black Stripe print.
*INSIDE is all natural batting that I absolutely love, made from 50% bamboo fibers and 50% certified organic cotton. The softest and most luxurious batting I have ever used and is densely woven so it will last for years and years and not pull apart inside the quilt. Bamboo is a quick growing, sustainable resource that is naturally antibacterial.
*BACK is made from the same hand dyed colors, as shown in the photos, with a pretty vintage floral pattern from my Grandmother's Fabric Stash thrown in because I loved it so! The vintage cotton is not organic.
*BINDING is wrapped around from the back of the quilt and machine stitched for security to the front.
*Machine pieced and quilted by me with unbleached cotton thread.
WHY ORGANIC?? Cotton is used for 50% of the world's fiber needs. Unless you buy organic cotton, it is grown using tons of pesticides and fertilizers. Conventional cotton grown with toxic chemicals accounts for 25% of the world's insecticide use and 10% of the pesticide use. At least 4 of the top 9 chemicals used in treating cotton are considered by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to be highly carcinogenic too!! Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers and is therefore better for the land, the farmers, and for your own well-being. Please research these materials if you have any further questions about their use or environmental benefits.
Made in my smoke-free, pet-free, in-home studio.
